I’m following up on a Contacts issue in Routine.
There appear to be duplicate contact records in my workspace, and I need help with both the deletion problem and the underlying cause.
What I’m seeing:
- 2 separate contact records for admin@celebratemessiah.co.nz
- 7 separate contact records for Peter Whitcombe (peter@jesusfirst.org.nz)
Problems:
1. When I open a contact, go to Edit, and click Delete, nothing happens.
2. I cannot find a reliable way in the web app to remove these duplicate contacts.
3. More importantly, I want to understand how these contacts were created in the first place and why Routine failed to deduplicate them.
Important context:
- I do not currently see any active integrations connected in Routine.
- I use Apple Contacts, which has 100+ entries, but these duplicates in Routine are unexpected.
- The duplicated records appear to include email-only / partial contact entries.
Please investigate and clarify:
- What source or process created these contact records?
- Were they imported from Apple Contacts, generated from email/calendar activity, or created some other way?
- Why were identical email addresses not merged into a single contact?
- Is there a known bug in Routine’s contact deduplication or contact deletion flow?
- Can you remove or merge these duplicates for me, or provide a safe way to do so?
The key duplicate emails involved are:
- admin@celebratemessiah.co.nz
- peter@jesusfirst.org.nz
Please also advise whether there is any risk that more duplicate contacts will continue to be created automatically.
Thanks.
