Calendar planning - sorting, filtering grouping

Request is related to Calendar view. I am requesting to add possibility to filter, group and sort our task in left panel.

Right now if we have a quite complex system with weekly goals, quartally goals or yearly goals it is hard to plan, arrange, notice our most importang things to do.

Examples
I have something that I am calling weekly goals and yearly goals. I do not want see my yearly goals (task) in Calendar view → Filtering would be helpful

Grouping if we have goals related to personal life and work life to easy recognise where what I have to plan. → Grouping would be helpful

If we have clear view of task with highest priority and would need to group by projects (We have few projects on-going), we would need sorting for this. To recognise which task should we start right now and add some clarity. - Sorting would be helpful

Each of these features would help us to manage complex personal and work projects.

In most apps when we have Project with high priority adn task was not marked as high priority, task will be move to “Lack of priority” group. Would be good to add possibility to group, sort and filtering with properties in higher level object. As hierarchy Project → Task. (Other way yo resolve that is to add inheritance properties - vary on use case - if to much hierarchy would cause isse with hierarchical sorting would be better to consider inheritance)

As I remember Todo-ist have quite nice sorting, grouping and filtering feature. They figured it out how to combine sorting and grouping in hierarchical way. When I was using it a long time ago I was impressed, still I am. Apps rearly have similar feature. In complex system when we have a lot of objects, projects and topics this would be a greate way to add structure to Routing.

Hey Rafal, You’re right. This will be addressed through Canvases which will allow you to compose the screens as you want.

Hello, hm… It will be like Tana then. Tana is quite complex I was using it. Would like to migrate my life from Tana.

I thought canvases would be like Heptabase whiteboards or obsidian canvases. Helping research and connect ideas. Get understand of hard complex topics.

I confused it with whiteboard. Different apps named it vary, hard to not have confusion :D. I found the whiteboard one.

I have strong hope for Routin success.

Not exactly. Canvases would be for you to compose screens through simple interfaces things widgets on iOS/Android in order to display what you want, how you want, where you want.

We don’t want to do something complicated like Tana. As for visual thinking like Heptabase, Routine is not going in that direction though we intend to introduce whiteboard at some point.

Sorry I didn’t type correctly. I meant “think widgets on iOS/Android”.

But canvases are designed for desktop. You can compose your screens on desktop to display, for example, a view of your tasks, project or whatever you want, left of the Calendar.

This would also allow you to build your own Agenda screen and display 3 days instead of the current timeline.

Hm… Sounds like modules or lego bricks to build own solution based on the previously built framework, by placing various components on it.

              I am curious.
